Wines selected and presented by Phil Cooke
Excellent wine requires top quality gapes. And to produce these grapes they have to be grown in special places, i.e. vineyards with a soil and climate that has proved to be particularly suitable for that grape variety.
Sometimes the wine produced in these special places has a similar taste to wines produced in the place where they developed. But often they produce a wine that is distinctively different, and many judge to be better.
The picture below shows, in blue, the wine regions of the world. It also lists the places where popular grape varieties developed, and where they can also be grown to perfection.
In this tasting we will taste wines that were produced away from their birthplace, but from regions where the modern wine drinker has judged the wines to be especially good.
At least 8 different wines plus quality breads and cheeses.
