Faeland: Songs for the spirit, folk-pop with Celtic and Americana influences.
Fusing deep folk tradition and acoustic instrumentation, Faeland bring their innovative and subtly experimental approach to contemporary folk music. Hear the acclaimed debut album “All My Swim” performed on an all-acoustic line-up including: guitars, beautiful vocals, double bass, violins, accordion and Celtic harp. Faeland offer a beautiful selection of original, modern folk compositions. The songs give the duo’s personal spin on classic themes of humanity, such as love, healing, and magic.

Sealionwoman
Sealionwoman – SIREN
Inspired by the selkies of Scottish folklore: water-dwelling beasts who morph from seal to human upon landing ashore. ‘Siren’ is the debut album by Sealionwoman: comprising a duo of vocals, doublebass and electronics.
The material on ‘Siren’ originally stemmed from a narrative live concert called ‘Selkie’, in which spectres of folklore, electronic drone and contemporary dance were intertwined to form a truly innovative live performance. This was performed at Brighton Fringe Festival and VAULT Festival in London.
Sealionwoman was formed by way of a fortuitous, chance meeting of Scottish-born jazz-influenced vocalist Kitty Whitelaw and double bass player Tye McGivern.
The stripped-down duo line-up of Sealionwoman coalesced around Whitelaw’s rich and beguiling vocal and McGivern’s atmospherically inventive approach to his instrument. A defiantly uncategorisable sound was born, equally informed by melancholic soundscapes, torch-song transgressions and rapturous drama.
McGivern offers Bad Seeds-style atmospherics influenced by noir-jazz degenerates Morphine and a Colin Stetson-esque approach to minimalism. This is masterfully fused with Whitelaw’s theatrical inspired vocals, taking inspiration from iconoclastic vocal stylists like Beth Gibbons, Circuit Des Yeux’s Haley Fohr, and Sarah Vaughan. ‘Siren’ is a work capable of luring any adventurous soul onto the rocks.
