Ghislaine Mouly is an exceptional French singer-songwriter. Her chansons intimes – intimate songs – are a joy. She has poured her life into these warm, gentle but powerful chansons francaises.
Her superb voice is a gift. Aged 3, her father used to lift her onto a table and say “Chante Ghislaine, chante !!” And she did. And she hasn’t stopped since. At school she wrote lyrics about her teachers. She’s been songwriting ever since, crafting what one admirer described as “beautiful, chiselled, poetic texts”.
As one friend said to her: “When I hear you sing I have the impression of listening to a strong wind of love.” That became the title of her last CD: ‘Mistral d’Amour’. She sings with bewitching tenderness, songs of love, of joy, of sharing and, no matter how painful a song’s theme might be, her aim is always to leave her listeners with hope. She is uplifting.
There is no side to Ghislaine Mouly, no pretension, no arrogance. She is still a humble performer and with her terrific diction she wants you to hear every word. She sings them with huge passion and energy. She is a lady who has lived a lot – and her songs reflect that experience.
In over 25 years on stage she has recorded 5 CDs and the next will be released in May. This is her first visit as a singer to England.
“A warm and captivating voice … pure poetry that transports you above the clouds”
Fabien Oyhanetche, guitarist
“As the song played on, her warmth, charm and fabulous tone started to come through and all my barriers and walls came tumbling down just like melting ice.”
David Durant, radio DJ
“Ghislaine Mouly’s voice is fantastic!”
