THE CHAPEL ARTS CAFE WILL BE OPEN THIS EVENING
Stroud based singer songwriter Hattie Briggs has played over 200 gigs since 2014 including 3 UK and 2 European tours. Highlights of 2015 included appearances at Cheltenham Jazz and Cambridge Folk Festivals which led to an appearance as a featured artist on Sky Arts TV. Her debut album “Red & Gold”, released in April 2015, produced by Peter Waterman, featured a host of top musicians including Barney Morse-Brown, Alec Dankworth and Dan Cassidy. This is soon to be followed by her second album “Young Runaway,” which will be released on 8th July. This gig at the Chapel Arts Centre is part of her 2016 album showcase tour. The album is already one of the top Pre-Order albums available on iTunes – and is also featured on the A list Singer-Songwriter playlist on Apple Music. With influences including James Taylor, Norah Jones and Eva Cassidy, Hattie’s music crosses into multiple genres including pop, folk, soul and blues.
“Red & Gold” was voted Best Debut Album of 2015 by Laurel Canyon Music and in January Hattie won their Best New Artist of 2015 award. “Young Runaway” has already received extensive reviews:
‘a voice of crystalline purity…ample evidence of a fine talent moving forward’ UNCUT, July 2016

Hattie has also been widely featured on several top online music blogs including Back Seat Mafia, Penny Black Music, and an exclusive Telegraph session and is receiving wide spread press coverage including London’s Metro, Cotswold Life, R2 and Maverick. She has recently been added to the roster of ITB, International Talent Booking agency in London.
Recent 2016 gigs have included sell out performances at the Stables, Wavendon, the Subscription Rooms, Stroud, the South Bank Centre. St Pancras Old Church, and Green Note in London. She has also played various festivals including BBC Radio 6, and the London Folk Fest and coming up are Nibley, Sunfest, Cornbury, the Secret Garden Party, a City Showcase, Cambridge Folk Festival and Sidmouth.
An independent artist building her fan base entirely from scratch, she kick-started her musical career by uploading songs and now has over a million hits on YouTube, thousands of subscribers and a loyal following on social media. Although just into her twenties, Natalie has clocked up three successful EP’s: The Simplest Things, Child and her most recent release, Over & Out, all of which featured in the iTunes and Top 10 Singer/Songwriter Charts.
Hattie’s second album is now a reality and some people have it in their hands! Official release is the 8th July. The response to the launch has been fantastic – 350 people came to the Stroud Subs – it was sold out, as was St Pancras Old Church.
