“I urge you to give this a listen. This is contemporary songwriting and performing at it’s best” Maverick*****
Singer/songwriter and musician, Jennifer is thrilled to be back with a stellar new band. Embarking on a bold new journey she brings together some of the finest musicians in the South West and an exciting new musical landscape to her latest collection of timeless songs. With themes of perseverance and overcoming, seeking out beauty and belonging in a broken world, and the quest for home… these are songs for our times.
Jennifer Crook’s classic songwriting with its poignant mix of hope and experience will touch a nerve with many a soul. Rooted in contemporary folk and Americana, Jennifer’s solo albums have received critical acclaim from BBC Radio 2, Bob Harris, and the national press. ‘Sea Glass’ released in April 2020 was described as ‘deeply poignant’ by Fatea Magazine and received national airplay. “I absolutely love that”, Mark Radcliffe, The Folk Show, BBC Radio 2.
Jennifer has performed at the Royal Albert Hall and at festivals and venues across the UK. Collaborations include Eddi Reader, Boo Hewerdine, Nashville’s Darrell Scott, Miranda Sykes (Show of Hands), Andy Davis (The Korgis), Beth Porter and many others. Her crowd-funded album ‘Carnforth Station’, ‘A superb record’ (Folk Radio UK), was produced at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios by Stephen W Tayler (Kate Bush). She has appeared Iive in session for Bob Harris and was asked to contribute to the BBC Radio 2 programme ‘Girl with Guitar’ about the legendary Joni Mitchell.
In 2021 Jennifer is returning to her songwriting roots. She is currently working in collaboration with recording engineer and producer Stuart Bruce on her eagerly-anticipated fifth album, which will be available to pre-order on the night.
