After a lifetime of becoming well-known for his virtuoso guitar skills, Kev turned to singing and songwriting at the age of 30. Before this, he had lacked the confidence to sing due to a stutter. Moving from his hometown of Northampton to Brighton gave him the inspiration to take his new musical path. The drastic change in musical direction was a risk, but he feels it was worthwhile because he knows that he wants to spend his life writing and performing his own music.

After years of hard work, fine-tuning, and carving out a name for himself doing what he loves, Kev was invited to New York to record his debut EP titled All You Need (2015). He performed on tour in the USA and the UK then returned to Brighton to pen the songs that formed his debut album Stories of the Sky (2017). Songs from the album were featured in Guitarist Magazine, Acoustic Magazine, and played on BBC Radio Sussex.

His second album, Modern Stories, was released February 28th 2020. Songs from this album have been played on BBC Radio 6 Music, BBC Radio Wales and many more national stations. Both of Kev’s albums were recorded with a Mercury-nominated producer in Brighton, UK and were supported by the Arts Council England.

Kev has toured globally, playing hundreds of shows in the UK, US, Europe and South Korea, including some of the UK’s finest venues. So far, his music has gained over 250,000 streams on Spotify.

Fred Hills

Ambitious, diverse and heavily swayed by extraordinary sound, Fred Hills creates captivating compositions by fusing influences from around the musical world. Inspired to play by the unique and revolutionary musicians that preceded him, Fred Hills incorporates his love of jazz, prog, electronica, world and folk music into his colourful rhythms, melodic ‘open-handed’ beats and delicate guitar-based compositions.

Fred has written, recorded & toured with a number of esteemed UK artists including Ellie Ford, Michael Baker, Time For T & Mara Simpson. In June 2021, Fred was hired as musical director for multiple award-winning theatre show, ‘YOU’, which he composed for and performed several sold-out events at Brighton Fringe Festival.

Fred’s forthcoming debut EP ‘Incerto’, due for release in Autumn 2022, draws influences from The Cinematic Orchestra, White Denim, Jose Gonzales and others. This has been brought to life through collaborative efforts with producers and sound designers; Alex Barron and Aneek Thapar, who share Fred’s vision to create music and sounds that defy genres and cross traditional boundaries.

“Fred Hills’ delicate guitar playing creates a dreamy atmosphere using various effects and from there, builds up layers of intensity that take the listener on a journey encompassing elements of prog, ambient and soundtrack music. Using both electric and acoustic guitars, Hills’ style is rich in grooves and riffs, but also very melodic. With a sound spanning from Soft Machine to Mammal Hands, yet still distinctive in its structure and creativity, Fred Hills Band certainly won the audience over with this impressive debut, and we hope to see them again on a Brighton stage very soon.” – BRIGHTON SOURCE
