Sicily has a long history of producing World Class Wines. As a wine producer it’s much bigger than you might think; only in the last 10 years has Australia overtaken it!
The range of wines is large: sparklers, reds and whites, and Marsala which is now back in its historic place as a world class fortified wine.
On the shady side of mountains the Sicilians produce prizewinning Chardonnay, and on the slopes of Etna they grow grapes that are native to the region, include Nerelo Mascalase. This grape variety has a taste that is leading top sommeliers to recommend it as an alternative to Red Burgundy.
This tasting is an opportunity to taste modern style wines ranging from good value to world class.
As usual there will be some quality breads and cheeses.
