Christmas is coming and what better than a selection of wines that are ideal for starting and finishing a social evening.
Gone are the days when Champagne was the only sparkling wine. But, and it is a big but, provided it is a quality Champagne is difficult to beat. But for getting the party going at a lesser cost there are good alternatives. There will be, a Cava, a Prosecco, A New World Sparkler, and a quality Champagne. $ sparklers to compare and contrast.
Fortified wines are a style of wine that is much underrated. Why? Primarily because even regular wine drinkers often tend to think they are sickly sweet! The reality is that after barrel ageing a fortified wine develops some wonderful, complex and delicious flavours. These are wines to sip and savour. On taste will be 4 different styles of fortified wine culminating in a rare 10 year old Pineau de Charentes.
