Stompin’ Dave Allen returns to the Chapel Art Centre on Thursday 2nd March. He’s been described by Maverick Magazine as “one of the world’s greatest performers“ and by Blues In Britain as “a downright genius.”
The Dorset based Stompin’ Dave is a vocalist, multi instrumentalist and dancer. He sings and plays guitar, banjo, fiddle, harmonica, piano and tap dances in an old-time, flat-footing style, often whilst playing an instrument.
With twenty five years of performing experience Dave has worked exclusively as a musician and performed across the UK and beyond including major festivals such as Glastonbury, Bestival, and Camp Bestival, etc.
Dave has performed at many bluegrass, blues, country, folk, rock n roll and old-time music festivals including some major festivals such as Glastonbury, Bestival, and Camp Bestival, etc.
A former member of former UK blues band of the year The Producers, Stompin’ Dave was nominated for a British Blues Award in the acoustic act category 2014. Winner of the FOAOTMAD old-time banjo competition 2011 and 2013.
Dave has performed many concerts in art centres and theatres alongside touring musicians from the USA including the legendary Whitetop Mountain Band from Virginia, W.C. Handy award winner Guy Davis, International Bluegrass Achievement award winner Alice Gerrard, and Jack Lawrence musical partner of guitar great Doc Watson, as well as many others.
Stompin’ Dave has been billed as a headline act at festivals, these have included The Cornish Folk Festival, National Banjo Day and The Tolpuddle Martyrs Festival. He has made several visits to the USA including competing in the US national bluegrass banjo, and international flatpicking guitar contests.
Last summer Dave was invited by world renowned rock guitarist Jeff Beck to perform at his new album showcase.
