Much loved UK vocalist Edana Minghella is the kind of singer who pierces your heart. Celebrated as “flawless, stylish and captivating”, Edana’s talent as a mainstream jazz vocalist has been widely recognised since the release of her debut album, Still on My Feet (2011). Dedicated to her late brother Anthony Minghella, the album featured special guests Guy Barker and Liane Carroll. Her second album, All or Nothing, a collection of songs from Billie Holiday’s repertoire, was released to wide acclaim in 2016 and described as “fantastic from start to end” by Alan Musson of Jazz Breakfast.
Performing at festivals and jazz clubs in the UK and Europe, Edana’s creative and spell-binding re-imagination of well-known songs is fast becoming her signature. Together with innovative arrangements, and world class musicians, her live shows are powerful and compelling. Often sold out, they showcase her great strengths: raw emotion, a natural story-telling ability, and the power to touch her audience deeply.
Tonight, she and her fabulous band return to the Chapel Arts with a set of beautifully performed songs of heartache from the Great American Songbook, from Billie Holiday and Bessie Smith through to contemporary classics from the likes of Tom Waits, Elvis Presley and Bob Dylan.
